Sydney Salsa Congress: Salsa Dance Day 3, Shows and Party Insider Info…

Ah yes, the final day of the Sydney Salsa Congress, started off fairly uneventful. The fantastic breakfast (included) at the hotel continued, and the massive well attended workshops flowed smoothly.  This nights performances, though less dramatic, again flowed smoothly.

The music this night, both DJ and band, was absolutely exceptional. I mean, really exceptional. There was little zouk, and only a few bachatas, and mostly hard core salsa (but not excessive on2 style music). Very good mix, and the band was also a total winner.  Tons of dance partners, and lots of fun dancing, pretty much everywhere you looked. More or less even, between men and women, it filtered out to a small crowd by about 12:30 (as usual, but also brought about by some crazy antics), and by 2am, there was a core group of about 100.

Now, I could talk about Johny Vasquez's stint on the stage, twice, and how I should probably take back my earlier notes, however, if you weren't there, you missed it. I'll let the rumors die with that comment, and just say…it was over the top, and got MORE over the top.  Once he got on stage, this huge jam started, and it became…fun in the beginning, chaotic, and then just plain strange. Gotta love it!  Wish I could say more…

There was also a really interesting and fun line dance thing that started at about midnight, and lasted about 20 minutes.  Didn't really "get it", but it was interesting. Each night the salsa congress had something unique. Be it Brazzlian drumming, line dances, or unique performances during the social dancing.  Defnitely kept you guessing.

Yes, I also have some video of some outrageous other antics, and absolutely insane "dancing", with, given the lack of alcohol, seems almost entirely unbelievable! I am considering posting it, but would likely have to place an over 18 warning on it. :)

Sunday night was obviously the night where people were most relaxe, and most crazy. Also, by far, the best dancers, dancing with the most people, to the best music.  It's often the last night of many salsa congresses that is the best (for social dancing),, and Sydney is certainly not alone in this!  Never leave a congress a day early…better to arrvive a day late. ;)

There's moring coming, and yes, a final update too… :)
